Getting to know Deanna Casper

Hi there, I'm Deanna! My name is Deanna Casper. I am an LMHC licensed in Florida. I provide counseling that is empathetic, non-judgmental, and collaborative. My approach I use a variety of modalities and methods however I believe that ultimately therapy boils down to the rapport I have with you. My focus I specialize in helping people who struggle with addiction, trauma, and depression. However, I find that most of my clients, no matter their presenting issue, have similar experiences of not feeling seen or heard. My communication style I have been told by my clients that I am non-judgmental, warm, and genuine. I also like to incorporate humor into my work (I used to do stand-up comedy) as a way to foster rapport. My journey to mental healthcare I was originally an elementary school teacher but quickly realized that there was a better career path in my future. I went back to school to get my master's in counseling. I spent my internship for grad school and the years after working in various inpatient treatment centers in South Florida. Although it was challenging at times working in a high-needs environment, I truly enjoyed every minute. For various reasons, I decided to leave the inpatient treatment world and move on to the next part of my journey. I have utilized the immense knowledge, patience, and empathy I have gained in that environment and brought it into my private practice. My goals for you I believe that everyone is capable of change. My job is not to change you but to guide you to change yourself. You are the expert on yourself, not me. This is why I believe that therapy must be a collaborative experience where we work together to set your goals. My first session with you I know that starting therapy can be scary. I will go at your pace. You do not have to feel pressured to open up about everything right away.
