My name is Deborah Salant, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Massachusetts, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Boston College. I work with adults and specialize in mood disorders, as well as parenting and fertility issues. I also support adult children of alcoholics and adults raised in families with dysfunction who are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client’s needs. After an initial assessment, I determine which modality would be most appropriate and effective for you. One modality I use is behavioral modification therapy—helping people understand how the way we perceive things impacts the actions we undertake. My focus I work with adults and couples. Over time, I have discovered that my approach and style are a good fit for individuals struggling with mood disorders, fertility issues, adult children of alcoholics, and adults raised in families with dysfunction. I help my clients navigate transition periods and build skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. Helping people improve the quality of their lives is a major focus for me. My communication style My communication style is warm, approachable, and light. I also employ humor in my sessions when appropriate to address difficult situations. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My ego is left outside the door. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been interested in working with others. There are instances of emotional illness within my family of origin, which have been a catalyst for my firsthand understanding of the needs of others and my desire to help them live their best lives.
