Getting to know Deborah Yellin

At times, we just need someone to talk to outside of our daily lives. We find ourselves with problems that we may not be able to solve on our own. Sometimes, we need a safe space where we can open up and gain perspective and confidence. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, which equips me to provide compassionate and effective support during these moments.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working in medical social work for many years, I've assisted patients and families dealing with new diagnoses, bereavement, grief and community resource education. I can assist anyone in setting up practical tangible goals to ease anxiety, depression, self-doubt and low-self-esteem. Are you overburdened with caregiver fatigue? Caregivers of all kinds often have self-doubt, guilt and shame about asking for help. Many caregivers just don't know what the next steps should be. What changes would you like to see?

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will ask questions and offer feedback to help you look at problems differently. Life can be complicated. Change can be scary. We can start to unravel the issues so that you can take more control of your life. I focus on solution focused therapies to assist in positive change.
