I contract as an on-call crisis clinician serving those struggling with crisis issues, including both homicidal and suicidal emergencies, for the past 5 years. I also hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University. Additionally, I have contracts with various County Jails to address mental health and adjustment issues, offering therapy for detainees. I have operated as a Career Counselor with the County, providing assessments and goals at all levels of abilities and education. With over 7 years of practice working with adults with various cognitive abilities, I focus on helping them meet their individual goals. I also bring 10 years' experience working with dually diagnosed adults with social and intellectual disabilities.
I use an eclectic, existential approach to counseling, drawing from top theories to create a very personal experience. Some theories I incorporate include Person-Centered, CBT, and Reality Therapy. I provide a therapeutic setting that supports progress toward treatment goals, personal growth, and positive change. The environment I create includes emotional safety, engagement, and open communication.
