Hi there, I'm Denise! Hi, my name is Denise Walker. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider in Tennessee. I earned my Master's in Counseling from the University of Kentucky. Counseling is first a relationship between you and me. I will listen, be compassionate, and be curious about who you are and your hopes for counseling. Second, I will use my knowledge and experience to pull from my counseling toolbox, as I believe every person is unique and one size does not fit all. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, want to make a change in your life, or simply need someone to talk to, I am here. My approach My approach is person-centered and strength-focused as I work compassionately and collaboratively with clients. I have training in Gestalt Therapy; therefore, I often focus on the here and now. I love Motivational Interviewing's focus on the MI Spirit and change talk. I believe in supporting and respecting the unique needs, values, and goals of each client. I strive to look at the whole person, checking in regularly about the client's physical well-being as well as their mental and emotional health. My focus I have had the privilege of working with individuals aged 18 to 60, guiding them through a range of challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress management, and difficulties with relationships, especially when it comes to setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care. I particularly enjoy working with clients who are navigating career changes or considering going back to school. My communication style I am by nature a positive person who smiles often, and my friends say I am an encourager. I strive for therapy to be a place of hope by providing a safe and comfortable space for clients to share and be heard. Therapy can be hard, and I want clients to know I am on their side and will be here for them.
