Greetings, my name is Dennis Steelman, and I am a licensed professional counselor with a Master’s in Addiction Counseling from Liberty University. I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma. My approach I believe treatment should be transparent and simple to understand. It should also be effective, providing you with tangible skills to manage symptoms and situations that may arise after treatment ends. These are instruments and lessons you will obtain in therapy. I am primarily a cognitive therapist with experience in CBT, CPT, and EMDR. My focus Throughout my years of clinical practice, I have found that clients who want to learn how to manage their symptoms from a practical standpoint often find success in my approach to treatment. My communication style In every session, you will receive a person who is calm and reflective. You will also receive a professional who is punctual and consistent throughout the course of treatment. My goals for you Goal setting is the roadmap to therapy, giving us the directions and targets needed to be treated. Goal setting is a collaboration between you and me, where you define a problem, and I determine how my skills best meet your needs in resolving that issue. My first session with you First impressions are everything. Our first session will involve what is commonly referred to as an intake. During this session, you and I will get to know each other and determine whether we can work together collaboratively in treatment. The first session is unique, with many questions from me unlike any other session. The basic goal is to help identify the problem, understand how it may have developed, and explore how we can resolve it.
