Getting to know Destiny Thomas Huff

Hi there, I'm Destiny! I am Destiny Huff, MS, LPC, CPCS, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Valdosta State University. My approach to therapy is that this is your journey, your process, and your safe space. Choosing to come to therapy is not easy, but it’s important that you recognize the strength in asking for help and gaining the tools you need to grow. I’m here to help you do that! My approach I use a person-centered and cognitive behavioral approach with a multicultural and trauma lens to assist clients who may need extra help navigating life’s stressors and transitions or support in implementing new coping skills. My focus My clients typically deal with anxiety, depression, stress, transitions, and/or trauma and are looking for a safe space to talk and process their thoughts and feelings. I support them in finding ways to change, grow, communicate their wants and needs, and set boundaries. My communication style I have a straightforward approach, but to do that effectively, I listen carefully and ask questions to make sure I understand what the client is saying and what they want to work on. My journey to therapy In my senior year of high school, I took a psychology class, and from then on, I knew I wanted to be a therapist. Seeing people accomplish their goals and grow in ways they never thought possible is why I do what I do. I help people recognize that they are great just the way they are—sometimes we just need an outlet and support to see that for ourselves. My goals for you I work with clients to create goals specific to what they want to address in therapy, whether that is setting boundaries or speaking up for their needs. My first session with you During the first session, we discuss prior therapies and interventions, previous diagnoses received, and any current medications.
