Dr. Diana Hedrick, PhD

Psychotherapist
CO
I've been a therapist for over 8 years, working in outpatient mental health, neuro rehab, primary care, nursing homes, and VA hospitals. I am now providing individual psychotherapy to adults in Colorado through my private practice. I have expertise in providing therapy to adults who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, insomnia, and general stress. The types of therapy I often use--CBT, ACT, mindfulness, meaning-making--are especially helpful for folks who are struggling to adjust to a challenging phase of life. That may be the aging process, retirement, caregiving, parenting, career changes, or more general burnout. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with you to come up with an individualized treatment plan that eases your symptoms and helps you live the life that is most meaningful to you.

Getting to know Dr. Diana Hedrick

What should a new client know about working with you?

My preferred therapy style is "integrative," which means we use relevant aspects of evidence-based interventions to create an individualized treatment plan. I have expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness interventions. A big part of my practice, no matter which intervention(s) we use, is to ensure you and I work together to capitalize on your strengths and lived experiences. This means I prioritize being flexible, compassionate, and curious throughout the therapy process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

If you'd like to make an appointment with me, we will first touch base briefly on the phone to make sure I can answer any initial questions, and to ensure I can help with what you're looking for. Our first appointment will be an “intake,” which means we’ll spend about an hour getting to know each other. If after the first 1-2 meetings it seems like we are a good "fit," we will continue to meet once every 1-3 weeks for therapy sessions. If for any reason you'd like a referral to another provider, I can help with that at any time. Or, if I realize I do not have the expertise to help with your concerns, I will help facilitate a referral to another provider. In general, therapy will entail identifying your areas of concerns and your goals, agreeing upon a treatment plan, implementing the treatment plan with adjustments as needed, and eventually ending therapy once you have reached your goals. My goal is for this entire process to be as collaborative as possible. Very broadly, we will spend time within session increasing understanding of your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors; outside of sessions, you will be encouraged to test out of the skills we go over in session to make changes in your life.
