Psychotherapist

Hi! I know that starting therapy can be a very scary process, so let me help you by creating a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment in which you can step forward in learning how to handle anxiety, depression, PTSD, or panic attacks. My approach I believe treatment should be client led-which means we look at where you are, talk about where you want to be, and together work to achieve this. I use an eclectic approach based on where you are, so one day we may do Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the next session we may work on core beliefs and the conflict it has caused creating your anxiety. I use mindfulness, positive psychology, supportive therapy, trauma focused therapy, written expression therapy for PTSD, and reality therapy. I like to give homework so that you can practice what we explored during the session. My focus Life is not easy. Sometimes we need to have help outside the regular people in our life, like family and friends. I work with young adult and adults struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, panic, ptsd, adhd, and basic stress. Together we can identify the triggers of these issues and find ways to cope with or eliminate them. My communication style I prioritize clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I am empathetic and calm during sessions. I listen carefully and find supportive words to help you. I ask many questions, and help you go from one place to another until a light comes on and you realize you have made a breakthrough. My journey to mental healthcare I began as an elementary teacher, then transitioned to teaching Behavior Disordered students. After 7 years, I realized I was counseling more than teaching, so I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. After I finished my teaching career as a school counselor in Ste. Genevieve MO, I finished up my supervision, earned my state license as a Licensed Professional Counselor, and opened my own practice.
