Diane has a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development with a Major in Community Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University with advanced courses in counseling and interview skills, human growth and development, group dynamics, major counseling theories, professional orientation and ethics, social and cultural foundations, clinical assessment, career counseling, counseling older adults and research methodology. Her training background also includes general, humanistic, transpersonal and Jungian psychology; psychosynthesis; Gestalt theory and practice; hypnotherapy; various behavioral and cognitive therapies, guided imagery; breathing techniques; relaxation techniques; meditation, mindfulness and nutritional therapy. Diane has over 25 years as a licensed counselor in private practice while also serving as a group leader and workshop facilitator to support adults as they face challenges of adjustment, loss and transition. Diane primarily employs a mind/body/spirit existential approach to therapy. As well, where appropriate other behavioral and cognitive methods may be included. During sessions, Diane encourages clients to discuss and express emotions and experiences in a safe environment while helping them gain insight, define goals, and plan and execute appropriate actions towards these ends. Goals of treatment are collaboratively established with clients to help them in leading healthier and more productive lives. Interests include spending time with family and friends, reading, walking, and energy medicine.
