My name is Diann Horton, LCSW, and I hold a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Northridge. I have professional experience working with clients struggling with self-esteem, confidence, substance use, motivation, stress, anxiety, depression, career and work challenges, as well as life transitions. I am a strong advocate for clients' wants and needs, which is why I favor a client-centered approach-because you are the expert of your own story.
I use a cognitive therapeutic approach to understand clients' thought processes and challenge negative belief systems that create barriers. This fosters positive thinking and promotes greater positivity in daily life.
I typically work with individual adult clients facing anxiety, depression, self-esteem and confidence issues, motivation challenges, career difficulties, substance use, and life transitions.
I strive to create a warm, relaxing, and nonjudgmental environment by being authentic and genuinely supportive. This helps clients feel comfortable being themselves and encourages open sharing.
My desire to help others has been a constant throughout my career. I worked with the homeless population for 13 years in various roles. Over the past seven years, I have provided clinical support using a cognitive therapeutic approach that has led to mental health stabilization, housing, family reunification, and employment retention-resulting in improved quality of life. I have now chosen to focus solely on providing mental health services to individuals actively seeking help, rather than coaching those who may not yet recognize their need for support. I believe in connecting with clients through attentive listening and reflection, ensuring they feel my genuine kindness. I am confident that quality service produces the best and most sustainable outcomes.
