Getting to know Dinesh Shrestha

My name is Dinesh. I am a licensed Professional Counselor and am also working towards obtaining my License in Chemical Dependency. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. My goal as a therapist is to help you become mindful of your life values and your life stories, guide you to change them if necessary, and support you in becoming the best version of yourself. My therapeutic approach is individualized and flexible, adapting to your unique needs. I use different techniques depending on the crisis we are addressing. Primarily, I incorporate cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and psychodynamic approaches, often blending other methods as well. Having worked in various settings-including hospitals, rehab centers, clinics, and schools-I am comfortable working with people of all ages and diverse concerns. Growing up outside the USA has given me multicultural competence and exposure to multiple cultures and ways of life, enriching my therapeutic perspective and approach. As your therapist, my role is to help you connect with your best self by actively listening, offering new perspectives when needed, and supporting you in accepting both your strengths and weaknesses. I am a very active listener, and sessions with me will create a safe space where you feel comfortable trusting me and opening up. My desire to become a therapist stems from a deep commitment to helping those in need of mental health support-guiding them to resolve issues or at least become aware of how these issues impact their mental health and overall well-being. Many of us hesitate to seek help for various reasons, but it's important to remember that it's never too late to ask for support. Reaching out can be the best step you take in this phase of your life, helping you move toward becoming the best version of yourself.
