Hi there, I'm Donn! My name is Donn Edgington. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Texas. I work with individuals and families for a wide variety of reasons for seeking services. My education includes a Bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University, a Master's in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, a Master's in Human Services from Capella University, and a Master of Education in School Administration from Schreiner University. My approach I am a cognitive therapist. I believe that the way we think, feel, and behave are all intertwined, and if we can change one of those three, the other two will change. My focus I work with teenagers up to senior adults. I do Telehealth and can work with many situations including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other issues. My communication style I try to make my sessions comfortable for the client. I have been told I am easy to speak with and I listen well. My journey to therapy My wife and I worked as Houseparents in children's homes in Georgia and Texas for many years. During this time, I saw the need for counselors and completed my training to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in several settings as a counselor, including for an agency that works with troubled youth and a Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center. I am now doing full-time private practice. My goals for you Goal setting is done by the client through discussions about what they want and need and what they are currently capable of obtaining. I focus on progress toward goals week to week. My first session with you We will talk about you and your expectations of counseling as well as what brings you to counseling. I also try to let clients get to know me so that they feel more comfortable talking.
