Donna Palmer, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
I am a Licensed Professional Therapist, nurse, spouse, mother, and grandmother. Each of us has many roles placed upon us, and life produces stressors for each responsibility and its accompanying expectations. I assist families and individuals experiencing life traumas, crises, transitions, and major illnesses to cope, understand, and sometimes just accept these challenges. Using a combination of therapy: cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused, I work collaboratively with my clients to assist them in understanding and making progress toward their chosen goals. I am based in GA and see clients via telehealth in GA and AL My approach Every client is unique, and my approach is to collaborate with each individual to understand their needs as we work together. Empathy, support, and skill acquisition, combined with cognitive behavioral therapy, are some useful tools we will explore. I am a spiritual individual and believe that we all inherently know what we need/desire to heal, but sometimes it takes focus and support to discover the process. My focus I work primarily with adults, families, and older adolescents struggling with life transitions. I believe in families and their ability to heal and nurture one another. Anxiety and depression are the byproducts of our stressful environment and afflict many clients. We will work together as a positive alliance to learn coping strategies for healing. My communication style My communication style is quiet, accepting, compassionate, and empathetic. We will work together at your pace and comfort level. Your life is your story, and I am available to listen, share, support, and nudge you toward your peace. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a nurse for over thirty years. Working in almost all areas of healthcare, I have seen and experienced the joy and sadness life has to offer. I have been a flight nurse in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, raised six healthy adult children, and am a grandmother to nine.
