Getting to know Dulcie Garrett

Hello, I'm Dulcie. Have you been struggling and wondering why it's so hard to feel happy, have a positive outlook, and accomplish the goals you have for your life? Are feelings of disappointment, confusion, and failure contributing to problems with your emotional health and relationships? Do you feel like nothing will ever change, so what's the point in trying? Well, let me tell you why-you are worth it, and it's never too late to invest in YOU! I hold a Master's in Educational Psychology and Counselor Education from Tennessee Tech University and have many years of experience counseling great people just like you. Together, we will navigate life's obstacles, find common-sense solutions, and I will guide and support you during life transitions. If you allow me to go on this journey of change with you, I will focus on a person-centered approach where your needs, goals, and objectives will be the roadmap for our work together. I use evidence-based treatment techniques, largely based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help you identify and change patterns in thinking and behavior that may be contributing to your current dissatisfaction. But perhaps even more important than the therapeutic approach employed, I will endeavor to build a relationship with you by being present, genuine, honest, and compassionate. I have learned that the outcomes my clients achieve often reflect the strength of our therapeutic relationship. So, are you ready to partner with me as you endeavor to overcome the situations, relationship challenges, or symptoms that seem to be barriers between you and your best life? If so, I am committed to walking with you on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After our first session (Intake Assessment), I should have a basic understanding of your personal history as well as the issues that have led you to seek counseling. While this is just the beginning and clients are at times understandably hesitant to share everything with a person who is unknown to them, I should have a good idea of what your goals are for our work together. These goals will dictate our treatment plan which will in essence be the roadmap that keeps us focused and moving toward our desired outcomes. Early on I will ask you about your preferences, (i.e. do you like reading recommendations, homework, etc.) and work toward personalizing an experience that reflects your needs and expectations. Thereafter, we will work collaboratively to identify and change thought and behavior patterns that are presenting as barriers to your personal growth and happiness.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
