“Ebony is honestly one of the reasons I am doing better. She has a calming yet welcoming vibe that allows you to trust her and open up to her. A lot of people seem calming but aren’t welcoming, ebony is both. She has helped me with my primary problem but has also given advice on smaller issues that worked amazing”

Getting to know Ebony Vaporean-Bussey-Payne

Hello! I'm Ebony Vaporean-Bussey-Payne, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2016. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University and began seeing individuals in 2013. Over the past ten years, I have worked with children, teens, and adults, including new mothers and first responders. Currently, my focus is on anxiety, depression, job stress, and family stress. My approach I believe the individual is the expert, and I'm here to provide support and tools on your journey. I use multiple modalities and adapt to each person's needs. Coming from a client-centered background, I often incorporate CBT and solution-focused techniques when appropriate. My focus I enjoy working with new mothers/postpartum, depression, anxiety, and first responders. At this time, I'm only seeing adults. My communication style I am genuine and transparent with my clients because I believe trust and vulnerability are essential in therapy. When appropriate, I use humor and candor as healing tools. I also often use metaphors to foster self-compassion. My journey to therapy I first fell in love with psychology in high school and majored in it at San Diego State. I've worked with youth in the foster care system, kids and adults in outpatient settings, and the public through crisis intervention via the 911 system. I'm passionate about helping others heal and reach their full potential. My goals for you I believe goal setting is a collaborative process. It wouldn't be helpful for me to simply tell you what to do. Most of us know what we want; the challenge is getting there. To assist, I typically ask the miracle question to understand what each person is working toward so we can set realistic, attainable goals that build confidence throughout the process.
