Edward Olvera, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
With four decades of experience as a Collaborative Guide, I support individuals seeking to acquire essential thinking and behavioral resources to accomplish their personal and relationship goals. The emphasis is on what you Can Do. You learn to make the most of what is possible in the present to develop a realistic and personalized plan of action to achieve your desired goals. You will learn to overcome the detrimental impact of the past and focus your attention and resourcefulness on moving your life forward to realize what is most important to you today. In a collaborative partnering process, you will be guided with a coaching approach to overcome what is problematic and to develop behavior-based strategies to manage, overcome, and create needed solutions. This is a strength-based and solution-focused approach. Sessions involve discussion, interaction, participation, and an exploration of what is needed to shift your life course in the direction you desire. This discovery process enlists your time, energy, and efforts to put into practice possible solutions once the session has ended. Sessions are focused on your priorities. The goal is to tap into what is possible and to encourage you to take the needed steps aimed at changing your life in the direction you most want to go. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco, Sacramento, which informs my collaborative and client-centered approach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The emphasis in sessions is to help you develop needed skills and emotional states for overcoming identified problems. You will learn to become more self-reliant in approaching life's daily challenges. You will be invited to address counter-productive adaptations or habits. Dealing with emotional challenges can be difficult, so you will be encouraged to build the needed social support that helps sustain your mental and emotional well-being.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
