Getting to know Elizabeth (Betsy) Gerbert

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) who graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA. My approach I have been practicing therapy for the past 15 years, specializing in both individual and family therapy. I have worked with children, tweens, adolescents, and adults. My approach to therapy is tailored to you and/or your children’s needs. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a family systems approach, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based skills. My focus I believe in taking a strength-based approach to working with clients and view therapy as a collaboration between client and therapist. Therapy should be a safe place to discuss very personal topics and concerns. It is a tool to improve your life. I aim to support you in identifying goals for therapy and provide skills to help manage anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and relationship concerns. My communication style I consider it an honor to work with people during tough periods or challenging situations. I strive to understand my clients and their current needs with the goal of helping you feel better. Attending therapy can feel overwhelming at times, but it is a step toward a healthier, happier life. My journey to mental healthcare I enjoy working directly with people and helping them find a path to a more meaningful and happier life. I am always learning and growing as an individual and therapist through my work with clients. My goals for you Goal setting is unique for each individual. I will work with you to identify specific goals to address during our time together. My first session with you The first session lasts about 45 minutes and focuses on getting an overview of your current goals and the issues you would like to work on in sessions.
