Elizabeth Ogah, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Elizabeth! I prefer to go by Liz. I am an adult adoptee who has worked in the foster care/adoption field for over 7 years, as well as working with addiction/recovery, trauma-informed care, and homelessness services in various capacities for nearly the same amount of time. I am a married mom of 2 with a heart full of compassion, kindness, and lived experience. My focus I want my clients to know they are safe, validated, understood, and not alone, whether they are struggling with the effects of trauma, navigating relationship challenges, managing anxiety or depression, or simply feeling stuck. I love working with clients who want to do the work to meet their goals and achieve their desired healing and awareness. My approach My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I believe you already possess many of the strengths needed to heal and grow. My role is to help you recognize those strengths, build practical tools, and gain confidence in your ability to move forward through working together to meet your goals. My communication style One of the things clients often appreciate about me is my authenticity. When it is clinically appropriate and helpful, I'm comfortable sharing parts of my own journey because I believe it can foster connection, hope, and trust. My goal is to create a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel accepted, challenged, and empowered. My journey to mental healthcare My path to becoming a therapist is rooted in both personal and professional experience. Growing up in foster care, I experienced the lasting effects of trauma firsthand, as well as helping others navigate trauma and its effects on mood and daily living. I wanted to find a way to give a voice to those who didn't have the words of their own. My goals for you I work with adults and couples from diverse backgrounds and have a special appreciation for serving veterans and individuals navigating re-entry into the community.
