Elizabeth Stark, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Elizabeth! My name is Elizabeth Stark, and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from National University. I have been providing psychotherapy for the last 20 years, working with adults, teenagers, and children in both individual and group settings. My approach I utilize various therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt Therapy. My focus I work with adults, teenagers, and children to address issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic violence, teen violence, PTSD, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, and career concerns, to name a few. My communication style I strive to create a warm, empathetic, collaborative, and encouraging environment. I want my clients to feel heard and validated while also being gently challenged to step outside their comfort zones, recognize certain behaviors, and try new approaches. My journey to mental healthcare What attracted me to a career as a therapist was the opportunity to help others in a profound way through a variety of challenges. I began as a peer counselor at a clinic for victims of domestic violence who were in crisis. The realization that my work can positively impact someone's life and improve their quality of life is what continues to drive me. This work reminds me that positive change is possible when you have caring support to confront fears, barriers, and challenges. My goals for you I listen carefully to what has worked and what hasn't in your past experiences with therapy or other approaches, so I can tailor individualized goals that support your growth. My first session with you After introductions, I will explain important aspects of therapy such as limits of confidentiality and what a typical session looks like. Then, I want to hear what brings you to therapy.
