Getting to know Ellyn Stangarone

Hello, my name is Ellyn Stangarone, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, but through telehealth services, I am available to see clients located anywhere in Tennessee. I work with clients 18 and older and specialize in depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use, misuse, and abuse, as well as sexuality and gender concerns. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to help my clients work towards their treatment goals. My approach varies based on what each client needs at the moment. The approaches I mainly use include CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, as well as other therapeutic models tailored to the client's individual needs. These modalities help the client and me build rapport and set goals to guide the therapeutic process and work towards a path of healing. I am here to help you fill your toolbox, guide you through challenges, and build a better and brighter life. I relate well to young adults making major life decisions, as well as adults and older adults working through new life stressors and transitions. The LGBTQIA+ community holds a big place in my heart. I work with individuals with various diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, gender and sexuality concerns, relationship issues, and many others. My communication style is calm and personable. I create a judgment-free environment for you to share what is on your heart, and I will always meet you with understanding and support. I pride myself on listening without judgment and looking for the positives even in difficult moments. I want to build a space where anyone can speak and feel heard.
