“Emily is the first therapist I have ever seen as an adult, so I was very nervous about picking someone who I felt understood me as well as my lifestyle. Having someone who is an lgbt safe space and understanding is important to me. She is encouraging and gives suggestions that are realistic and helpful. I am better off now than I was 8 months ago thanks to her.”

Getting to know Emily Forte

Hi there, I'm Emily! My name is Emily, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with families and individuals. My educational background began in social work with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Georgia. With a foundation in social work, my training is focused on helping individuals reach their full potential as they define it. We are all unique and have our own paths to follow; I strive to meet people where they are and join them to provide support along the journey. My approach I believe the source of healing comes from within the person. The therapist's role is to provide a safe space for the person to openly process their truth and give structure as needed. My approach is grounded in Person-Centered therapy: empathic understanding, being our authentic selves, and nonjudgmental acceptance. As tools are needed to help us move forward, I utilize a variety of modalities based on the best fit for the individual, including CBT, DBT, Strength-Based, Positive Psychology, Family Systems, and Grief work. My focus Working through the many life changes we face can be overwhelming, triggering anxiety, depression, and feelings of being unable to cope with stress. Leaving home for the first time, starting a new career, getting married, becoming a parent, facing divorce, losing a loved one, and becoming a caregiver for someone we love are just a few of the transitions we may face on our journey. Role changes are difficult, and having support as we go through them can help us thrive and grow through each challenge. My communication style I believe the client is the expert on themselves, and I learn the most from listening with a nonjudgmental ear and asking clarifying questions when needed. They should feel relaxed and comfortable with the therapist, talking as two close friends who feel accepted and respected.

Emily has been a fantastic part of my support system. She is compassionate, understanding, and has challenged me to prioritize my mental health. She is non-judgmental and I always look forward to sharing what has been going on in my life. I highly recommend Emily as a practitioner - 10/10
Emily is a fantastic therapist! She listens and cares about her clients. She taught me how to not down myself so much and how to look at a situation in a more positive way! Im so thankful and grateful for all she did for me!! I would recommend her to anyone….trust me she is worth it!
I am so grateful for the experience I have had with Emily. I was very scared to start going to therapy but she quickly eased my nerves! I quickly realized that therapy simply helps you learn to be the best and healthiest version of yourself! Emily taught me realistic everyday techniques to help manage my anxiety and panic attacks. She helped me realize that I could take control of my anxiety instead of letting my anxiety take control of me. Her calming and kind personality allows you to open up and find peace in your current situation. She has always been very flexible and easy to schedule with as well. I couldn’t recommend her enough!!
I felt at ease and sage during the whole appointment. Emily validated my feelings while giving my guidance on how to constructively move forward!
