Hi there, I'm Emily!
Hi, I'm Emily Keehn, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based out of Sacramento, but working virtually to better assist clients throughout California. I work with adults 18-65, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality disorders using a variety of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help clients overcome barriers and feel better.
My approach
My approach to therapy is centered around each individual client's needs and goals in treatment. I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy both to create a realistic path forward for each client, but also to learn how to overcome, process, and manage difficult thoughts and feelings.
My focus
I have found that my approach works best with adults who are driven to move forward while also looking for accountability and focus as they work to overcome mental health struggles that have arisen from a variety of life events. This is commonly seen in those who experience depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, and borderline personality disorder, as well as those experiencing stress. I work with each client to navigate their mental health struggles, build skills to manage symptoms and reduce stress, and overcome barriers that have hindered their well-being.
My communication style
My communication style is calm but direct, working to create an environment where both myself and my clients can be authentic and accountable. I want clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything and know that I will work to help them through open, honest, and kind communication.
