Emily Nielson, MS

Psychotherapist
875 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA
Are you feeling stuck in old patterns, or like the past keeps showing up in ways you can't quite shake? Hi, I'm Emily — I'm a pre-licensed EMDR therapist who works with adults ready to heal from trauma, relational wounds, anxiety, and depression, especially if you feel "stuck" repeating the same cycles and are ready to do something different. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and parts-work (IFS) to help clients process what's underneath the surface, not just manage symptoms. As a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, I also draw on somatic and mindfulness practices, because healing isn't just cognitive — it lives in the body too. My approach is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative; I believe the relationship we build together is often what makes the work possible in the first place. I offer inclusive, culturally-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming care, and I take the time to really get to know each client so we can build a roadmap toward growth that actually fits your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

It's important to me that therapy feels like a safe, supportive space. In our sessions together, we'll slow down and tend to your body and mind. This is a place where you can show up fully, exactly as you are, and be seen, held, and known.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Taking the first step and reaching out can feel scary, but please know that you aren't embarking on this journey alone! In our first session, we'll spend some time getting to know each other and establishing a sense of trust and safety. We'll also talk more about what's bringing you to therapy and the goals you'd like to work on. Together, we'll create a roadmap to healing that might include parts work, somatic approaches, talk therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
