Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Emily Poulos! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master's in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I believe that all clients have the power to make changes within themselves. As a therapist, my job is to come alongside the client to support that change and transformation. Understanding why people suffer, how they change, and how to help them live more satisfying and gratifying lives is a fascinating, huge, and important undertaking. ? Sommers-Flanagan & Sommers-Flanagan My approach I believe therapy is more of a seasonal support. When there are seasons in life when support is needed, therapy provides that support along with tools and skills to help clients autonomously conquer issues moving forward. My role is to provide space for my clients to process and to guide them with the tools and skills I can offer. Some of the most common theoretical approaches I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapies. My focus Throughout my time as a therapist, I've worked with people of all ages and backgrounds. From working in the school system with children aged 5?18 years old, to private practice with individuals aged 5?85 years old, as well as supporting military service members and veterans. Working on a telehealth platform, I prefer to work with adults. I have the most experience with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, women's issues, relationship distress, panic/panic attacks, adjustment, stress, eating disorders, and many others. My communication style Three words that describe my therapeutic communication style are supportive, non-judging, and compassionate. Each session, I provide my clients the opportunity to process whatever they would like to process. In addition, I use the goals we have set as a guide for our time together.
