We come to therapy because those changes aren't working for us anymore. For twenty years, I've been helping people get through tough times, begin new ventures, and show up in life in happier, healthier ways. I integrate mindfulness and creativity into the talk therapy process. Activating the imagination is a proven way to activate your problem-solving capabilities. My approach I'm an action-oriented therapist. This is a distinction between me and many other therapists. Yes, there is always time to talk, check in, vent, and process what is going on in life. But I also teach people mindfulness, focusing, and simple creative art exercises in session. Skills you can practice on your own one day to reduce stress, improve mood, and solve problems. My approach is designed to help you build confidence in your own ability to solve problems and feel better about your daily life. My focus I work with adults and high school aged adolescents of all backgrounds. The past few years, I have increasingly worked with people in their 40s and 50s who are navigating big life changes at work and in relationships. I also have both lived experience and specialized training supporting gay men. My communication style As a therapist, listening is the most important thing I do. If you are stuck in a repetitive pattern that isn't supporting you, I will point it out. And help you imagine a new way to respond. I am also trained to notice non-verbal cues and see shifts in the way you present yourself. I can help you adjust the way you communicate non-verbally and notice how it shifts the way you relate to others. My journey to mental healthcare I discovered therapy as a client when I was 30 years old. Dealing with what now seems like impossible grief and trauma. The experience was transformative for me.
