Erica Ivey, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TN
Hi there, I'm Erica! Hi! My name is Erica Ivey, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I earned my Master's in Social Work from Union University. I like to take a complete history of my client and learn the reason why they made their appointment. I enjoy working with people who have trauma, depression, and/or anxiety. My approach I prefer to use multiple approaches in one therapy session. I believe a strengths-based approach is very important along with using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also enjoy using trauma-focused CBT, narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My focus I like to work with teenagers and adults who have experienced trauma, symptoms of depression, and/or anxiety. I have experience working with clients who have co-occurring disorders. I enjoy helping adults who have Bipolar Disorder. People who experience personality disorders and struggle to connect with previous therapists usually do well with me. My communication style I can be very direct and straight to the point once I get to know my client. I hope that everyone who sees me understands that I try my hardest to understand them in a very comfortable and nonjudgmental environment. My journey to mental healthcare I enjoy doing this work because I have been in therapy myself and know what a difference it makes when you can talk to someone who is neutral and make steps to change your life. I enjoy getting to know people from all walks of life and love seeing the "light bulb go off" during a session. My goals for you I openly discuss goals with my clients once we have identified the concerns that need to be addressed.
