Getting to know Erisa Nishizawa

Hi there, I am Erisa. Have you ever felt stuck, alone, or overwhelmed by challenges that life throws at you? Are you looking for a safe space where you can be your true self and process unresolved painful events? I truly believe that you are capable of overcoming hardships on your own; however, sometimes it can get really intense and difficult to cope alone. I support teens and young adults navigating life transitions such as career changes, school, relationships, moves, decision making, problem solving, and countless life stressors. I also enjoy working with couples and families who want to improve their dynamics and communication. Together, we can identify what is not working and get you back on track by exploring new ways that work for you. I integrate mindfulness and self-care tools to help manage anxiety and depression. Whether you are dealing with relationship issues, stress related to career or school, or feeling depressed or anxious, I am here to help. Taking the first step in seeking therapy can feel scary, but I commend you for it! You deserve to feel seen, acknowledged, and to heal and grow. In our sessions, I will meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the barriers holding you back. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Azusa Pacific University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After the first session, we will schedule our weekly session and build rapport. I will be asking questions about careers, educational background, relationships, family histories, interests, etc in the first few sessions to get to know you better.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I really appreciate Erisa's professionalism. She's very patient to listen to me and gives me tools to navigate my situation. She asks some good self-awareness questions and gives me ways to access and proceed with my situation. Thank you so very much Erisa!
Erisa has been really helpful in having me look at my childhood and past experiences to help me understand why I react to current situations the way I do. It has been a very eye opening experience and I have really been able to look at things from a perspective I didn't have before. I've always wanted to dig into the past and have some closure with it & never got the opportunity with past therapists. I also feel very safe with Erisa, in the past I had a mental healthcare provider threaten me with a 5150 because I was very emotional & couldn't stop crying. I feel that I can let down my guard with Erisa without worrying about being locked up for showing my emotions. I've never been able to share my emotions in the past & being threatened for it really made me apprehensive about seeing a therapist or any mental health provider again.
