In therapy, it's often said to do what works, because patients frequently present with unique conditions that require special thought. Cognitive behavioral therapy is the foundation of my treatment, as it offers the best results I've seen with the adult population I have treated in recent years. However, I also draw on my experience in the more psychodynamic treatment world of the past. I bring insights from evaluating geriatrics, first-break psychotic young adults, and treating young dually diagnosed individuals and their families. Teaching group therapy and treatment planning in a graduate psychology program certainly helped me learn and grow. I'm a team player who encourages the use of outside resources. I anticipate resistance and setbacks, believe in short-term treatment, and discourage dependence on me. I aim to establish attunement whenever possible and speak the language of one's inner, felt experience?one that may not have been put into words before we met. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California, which has further shaped my approach to compassionate, evidence-based care.
