Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Evan! Exhausted by the way you think about yourself? We are often (if not always) our own worst enemies. Whether this pattern has caused you problems with guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, addiction, or you name it—the starting point is generally the same. When we embark on the project of therapy, you will be asked to put your painful thoughts and feelings into words. As the process unfolds, the strength and fervor used to overthink and condemn yourself will become accessible to use productively in reaching your goals. I practice from an insight-oriented psychodynamic lens. Difficult patterns become easier to shed as we develop an understanding of their conscious triggers and unconscious roots. Of course, as challenges arise in the here and now, we will meet them head-on utilizing narrative and solution-focused interventions. I am well suited to work with individuals who are creative and artistic or who may even feel too blocked to label themselves as such. I am also experienced in working with mental health and academic professionals struggling with their careers or personal lives. While providing psychotherapy, I believe it is key to embrace humor and offer some relief from the gravity of the problems those I work with face. I encourage profound exploration of symptoms and conflicts while simultaneously offering my patients a space of warmth and relief in which to grow. I began my career in animal rescue. Being confronted with animal hoarders exhibiting severe psychopathology created a drive in me to understand how people can change. I left to pursue graduate school at the City University of New York, Hunter College, where I earned my Master’s in Social Work to learn how to help people foster the insight and skills required to do so.
