Getting to know Evelyn Serna-Balderas

Hi there, I'm Evelyn! I’m Evelyn Serna-Balderas, a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s in Adult Mental Health and Military Social Work from the University of Southern California. I appreciate and am motivated by working with individuals to navigate challenges and experience growth in their journey. My approach I work as a strategist rather than solely a theorist, incorporating various modalities to fit what each client presents in session. I utilize CBT, DBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, person-centered, and psychotherapy approaches. My focus I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, ranging from children to older adults. I often engage clients dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, bipolar disorder, BPD, and dual diagnosis. My communication style I’m very client-focused and aim to truly meet individuals where they are. I work to ensure anyone I meet feels the compassion and empathy I hold for them. My journey to therapy I see it as a privilege to have people share their difficulties and struggles with me. I have worked with diverse populations in various settings, always striving to respect the needs presented. Witnessing growth and the implementation of positive skills in people’s lives continues to motivate me. My goals for you I create goals with input from each client, emphasizing and understanding their needs and desires to shape therapeutic objectives. My first session with you During our first session, I invite you to share your current situation and reasons for seeking therapy. I hope to get to know what is important to you as we begin the process of finding solutions and moving toward the version of yourself you hope to reach.
