Getting to know Everlis Bernal

I am a licensed therapist dedicated to helping BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and young to older adults navigate struggles with anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, relationship problems, life transitions, and perinatal issues. My goal is to support you in cultivating healthier thought patterns and behaviors through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), building and improving coping strategies through Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and assisting in the processing and healing of trauma and life experiences.

What should a new client know about working with you?

DISCLAIMER: not accepting Medicare or Medicaid plans at this time. Having worked as an immigration paralegal, victim-witness coordinator, and guardianship liaison, I have seen first-hand the gap in mental health services for BIPOC communities. This experience deepened my commitment to making a difference within my communities, allowing me to bring a personalized, supportive, and empathetic presence to each session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is trauma-informed and empowering, tailored to your unique history and goals to reach the healing you deserve. At all times, you are encouraged to achieve that healing in a collaborative and supportive environment designed to help you build resilience and enhance coping strategies. Treatment may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused approaches. No matter the therapeutic approach, I believe in empathy, collaboration, and honesty, which helps me be a caring, team-oriented, and transparent partner in your therapeutic journey. I look forward to building a strong, reliable relationship that nurtures our work together.
