Getting to know Evonne Nelson-Smith

I am licensed in Georgia as a licensed (clinical) professional counselor and have been in practice since 2014, when I graduated from Argosy University, Atlanta, with a Master's in Community Counseling. I have worked in residential treatment centers, outpatient mental health clinics, private practice, and with military families in school settings. My primary therapeutic approach is person-centered, and I enjoy helping adolescents and adults live happier, healthier lives by improving their mental health and education. I have experience working with individuals facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, communication, critical thinking, and other behavioral issues. My approach combines solution-focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy, among others. I also bring personal and professional experience engaging with people from diverse backgrounds. Treatment is tailored to each individual's needs based on the initial session, and I welcome the opportunity to help improve day-to-day functionality. Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy playing basketball, crafting, spending time with my family and dog, and traveling to new places.
