“Working with my therapist at Waterbrook has truly been life-changing. From our very first session, I felt heard, respected, and genuinely supported. My therapist created a safe and nonjudgmental space where I could open up about things I’ve carried for years. They ask thoughtful questions, challenge me gently when I need it, and have helped me connect the dots in ways I never expected. Each session leaves me feeling more grounded and hopeful. What I appreciate most is their ability to blend professionalism with warmth—it never feels clinical or cold. I’ve grown so much emotionally and have developed tools that are helping me manage anxiety and improve my relationships. Waterbrook is a gem, and I’m so grateful I found this practice. I honestly can’t recommend them enough.”

Getting to know Falisa Byers

I am a dedicated therapist committed to creating healing spaces for Black, Indigenous, and people of color navigating depression, anxiety, and trauma—particularly as they relate to the impacts of colonization, separation from ancestral traditions, and white supremacy culture. My approach is rooted in decolonization and healing justice, helping clients reconnect with their inner wisdom to foster resilience and empowerment. I specialize in supporting individuals through grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression, offering compassionate, personalized care that acknowledges the unique challenges they face. I integrate literature, creativity, and storytelling into my therapeutic work, drawing inspiration from thought leaders like Tricia Hersey, Kelsey Blackwell, bell hooks, Ibram X. Kendi, and Alice Walker. By incorporating books and artistic expression into the healing process, I encourage clients to explore self-discovery in transformative ways. With a strong background in the arts, I also bridge mental health and creative expression. I consult with theatres on trauma-informed practices, facilitate workshops, and support youth My specialties include treating depression, anxiety, and various forms of trauma, including interpersonal violence, child abuse, and sexual assault. I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to empower my clients on their healing journey. Above all, I am dedicated to creating a safe, affirming space for self-reflection and transformation. My goal is to help individuals overcome challenges and thrive as they move toward a future aligned with their aspirations. My specialties include depression, anxiety, and various forms of trauma (e.g., interpersonal violence, child abuse, sexual assault, etc.). I am skilled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I am dedicated to helping others achieve their life goals.

The visits are well worth the time. She’s very thorough while giving me the freedom to explore my own emotions rather than dictate them to me.
Falisa extremely supportive. I have done therapy before, but I have never encountered someone who listens attentively and then provides me with the support to facilitate better decision-making. She has been with me through some of the toughest times I’ve gone through in the last two years and I don’t even know how she does it. I have come to sessions in just overwhelming tears, and she has found a way to center me and bring me back into focus so that I can actually deal with what I was feeling. I am beyond honored to have her. She listens and she’s straightforward. She’s not one of those therapists that supports your bad thinking or decisions she helps you to understand and make the best decision for your situation.
I like the way my therapist guides you toward a better you. She doesn't tell you what to do, she lets you decide with a gentle insight. I have a better understanding of therapy. I wish more people would consider therapy when faced with emotional challenges.
It’s good I love my therapist
We have had several visits and Ms. Byers has made a great and positive impact for my daughter. Ms. Byers, shows true concern and values my daughters time with her. As my daughter would say, "She's the best!"
Ms. Byers is very professional, resourceful, attentive, and insightful. My quality of life and the lives of my daughters have improved drastically because of her. She has very helpful with practical solutions to just about every challenge that we go through. I recommend Ms. Byers to any and everyone I talk to about counseling because it changed my life for the better.
Falisa is very professional and I really enjoy talking to her. I starting seeing her after I lost my mom. Her help is definitely appreciated and I have given her information to those that were seeking help.
