Getting to know Felipe Amaya

My name is Felipe Amaya. I was born and raised in New Jersey in a family that immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia, South America. I was educated in Boston but have spent most of my adult life in California. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. In 2001, I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, specializing in working with Older Adults and Families. I have many years of experience working with clients who have chronic illnesses, especially those with kidney failure undergoing long-term dialysis treatments. Having lived and worked in Southern California, I am familiar with many of the language, cultural, and generational challenges that Latinos face while living in the United States. I approach my work from a strength-based, family-centered, and spiritually grounded perspective. My goal with clients is to help them live their best lives and become the best version of themselves.
