Psychotherapist
TN
Hi there, I'm Felisha! Hello, my name is Felisha Baxter. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Addiction Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. My goal is to empower my clients to take the lead in their own growth and healing while also helping them challenge negative thoughts and navigate challenging situations in life. My approach My approach is a combination of person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. My favorite aspect of person-centered therapy is utilizing empathy. It is important to me that my clients feel I am meeting them with genuine empathy and that they can speak freely without fear of judgment. My use of cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on changing automatic negative thoughts because they can hinder our growth. My focus My experience is with adolescents, teens, young adults, and parents. I also have experience in family therapy. I have helped many of these populations work through various stressors, such as family relationships, school, work, and difficulty regulating emotions. Recently, I have gained more experience working with mothers experiencing the stressors of having newborns and infants. My communication style The best environment to communicate and express emotions is a judgment-free and empathetic space. It is my goal to provide this environment to each of my clients. This can be through active listening, clarifying emotions and stressors, and providing the sounding board that each client needs when working through their challenges. My journey to mental healthcare I was driven to be a counselor due to my own struggles throughout childhood, adolescence, and even navigating adulthood. I knew I wanted to help others cope with and navigate their lives to become the best version of themselves. I am passionate about helping others grow and become successful no matter what obstacles life has thrown at them.
