Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Gabrielle! My name is Gabrielle Loomis-Annett, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Ottawa University. I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I take a trauma-first approach, which helps clients understand how their past experiences might be negatively impacting them today. I combine that with concrete, practical tools and strategies to create powerful shifts and change. I partner with my clients. As I like to say, "You are the expert in you, and I am the expert in healing." Together, we get to root causes and create real healing. My approach My therapeutic approach is heavily influenced by Pia Mellody, Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk, Peter Levine, Dr. Laura Parnell, Dr. Kevin McCauley, and more. The models of therapy I utilize most are the Tri-phasic Model of Trauma Recovery, Post Induction Therapy, Attachment Theory, EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also have training in The Sinclair Method, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Neurolinguistic Programming, and more. My focus Most of my clients have had therapy before and are looking for a deeper and more impactful therapeutic experience-perhaps frustrated by previous therapy or having gone through a stressful recent event like illness, divorce, layoffs, or the death of a loved one. My clients are motivated, action-oriented, ready to dive in, do the work, and get results. My communication style I take a non-punitive and non-judgmental approach in my counseling. I can be direct, but I describe my communication style as compassionate, empathetic, and directive. My goals for you I like to partner together. First, I want to hear the client's goals, and then I might make suggestions or recommendations to help their goals be more appropriate and/or attainable.
