“Gaby is an excellent introduction to therapy. I belong to a generation that, when we fall, we get up, brush off the dirt, and keep going, even if it means sacrificing our own well-being. She’s helped me to see the difference between self sacrificing and self sabotage. She’s refreshing and helps me adopt a more mindful approach that benefits both myself and others. She’s an attentive listener and provides valuable advice to help me to make the best decisions for not just everyone else but to include my own needs and how to be more balanced with my OCD and anxiety. I truly appreciate her and yes, I highly recommend Gaby.”

Getting to know Gaby Cote

Hi, I am Gaby, a licensed clinical professional counselor. I earned my master’s degree in Community Counseling at Loyola University Chicago. I realized I wanted to become a therapist during a serendipitous summer camp experience—40 feet in the air on the high ropes course, I discovered that I loved helping people process challenging experiences in creative ways. I have been providing individual therapy to teens and adults of all ages since 2020. Before that, I worked as a clinical consultant, clinical director, and clinical supervisor in specialized mental health rehabilitation settings. Since 2012, I have supported people in creating and meeting their goals. I draw on all of my past work experiences to help clients explore their dreams and strengths and learn how to make these things their reality. I use eclectic strategies to support people as they sort through their lives and find ways to move forward in a new light. I believe therapy is a special space that allows a person to sit, process, and problem-solve in ways that can’t always be done day-to-day. Those who know me best would describe me as someone who goes with the flow but still takes time to stop and climb some trees. In my spare time, I can be found with my husband and three boys, ideally outside kayaking down a river or cross-country skiing in the woods. I also enjoy running, biking, gardening, and cooking.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After your first therapy session, you will feel heard and hopefully have a better understanding as to why you sought out therapy in the first place. We will work together to understand what actions will support you in between our first and second sessions. Each week we will build upon this supporting you in creating action steps for while you are not in therapy. You will also learn how to process; how to process thoughts, emotions, and events in a neutral and thought-provoking way. As we continue we will always do recaps and reviews to allow you to see the strength and growth you have done during your time in therapy. I work with people in MI and IL, my schedule is in Central Time Zone, I will help make sure we get the right appointments scheduled.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Gaby is very insightful by helping me understand my own thoughts & patterns better and she’s helping me break the cycle of falling down the rabbit hole ???.
I have seen 10 previous therapist before finding Gabe. I have never felt safer with someone I hardly know. She keeps me focused on the goals i set for myself and is always challenging me to answer my own hard questions. Gabe is has a wealth of knowledge and information and is stunningly tactful in delivering it. She never makes me feel incompetent or behind. I never feel like she is telling me what choices to make or direction to take but instead helping me find the best way for me to guide myself there. I hesitate to sing her praises because I selfishly dont want her to be too booked up. Incredible human!
Gaby is wonderful and has a unique and tailored approach to her sessions. I have worked through more in the limited time I've been working with her than I have all my other therapy combined. She meets me where I need to be (with our conversations) and is very understanding.
