Genny Mutz, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I have a combined 20 years of experience as a counselor/therapist in my field. I received my Master's degree in 2003 from California State University. I have spent most of my career guiding adolescents and adults through a variety of challenging life experiences that can impact a person emotionally and mentally. I have assisted clients in overcoming a variety of challenging situations by recognizing their inner strengths and learning to overcome lifelong fears and self-doubts. It is my mission to help you live the fullest life you can and say no to limiting self-criticisms. This is what inspires my practice. My approach I draw from a variety of therapeutic models and theories because I know that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to understanding you and your life experiences. I often utilize Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Humanistic theory, and Self-Compassion models. I have extensive experience working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment for depression, anxiety, substance abuse treatment, relationship issues, family conflict, grief and loss, and coping with phases of life changes. My focus I very much enjoy working with young adults and helping them find their path in life, and adults going through a change of life phases, who can benefit from talk therapy guidance and support. I focus on teaching self-acceptance and confidence-building through learning about how our internal self-talk guides our habits, behaviors, and choices we make in life. I teach people how to gain better control of those internal thoughts and build self-confidence, and the rest comes into place much more smoothly. My communication style I strive to create a non-judgmental, empathetic environment where the client feels safe, accepted, and empowered to find their own solutions and grow with support. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences in an insightful way to promote personal growth.
