“He made me feel comfortable talking about my issues and made me feel I was heard. I enjoyed taking the time to talk through my issues and concerns and do the work he suggested. I’ve had therapists in the past that made me feel the opposite and I immediately stopped attending. I can tell he genuinely cares.”

Getting to know George Livengood

Hi, I'm George Livengood. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I will provide a safe environment and a non-judgemental ear for you to explore your life and its infinite possibilities. You will determine where you want to go and I will work with you to help you get there. My approach You are coming to me to make a change in your life so we need to get things done. I am a solution-focused therapist that uses evidenced based CBT/CPT treatment approaches to challenge your distorted thought patterns and build on your current strengths (You have made it this far!). My focus I have extensive experience in depression, anxiety, eating disorders, family conflict, self-injurious behaviors, and addiction at the inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels. My communication style Hopefully, you will find that I am friendly, kind, practical, and supportive but also challenging. The work you are attempting in therapy is not easy and at times you may require a push or someone to hold you accountable. I will be that person. I will sit with you in the darkness and in the light. My journey to therapy I grew up very poor in rural New Hampshire and seemed destined for the same life as my parents and older siblings. However, my eyes were opened to different possibilities which led to higher education, travel across the United States and around the world, and seeing the myriad ways people of different cultures and communities navigate life. I want to open your eyes to the unlimited possibilities. My goals for you Goal setting is a collaborative process. You decide where you want to go and working together we set goals that will help you get there. You must understand and see the value of the goal or you might not engage in the work. My first session with you In our first session, you will see the authentic me but remember, the session is about you. You will tell me what is going on and what you would like out of treatment.
