Gerard Artesona, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University) in 2012. In addition to my graduate training, I hold certifications in Psychedelic Integration, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Somatic Therapy, and yoga instruction. Before beginning my private practice, I worked in a range of clinical and community settings, including psychiatric facilities, community mental health programs, group rehabilitation homes, and correctional institutions. My experience includes supporting migrants, minors, and adults; individuals detoxing from drugs and alcohol; and clients participating in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy integration groups. I have had the privilege of working with people of all ages, gender identities, racial backgrounds, and mental health concerns. In my private practice, I currently focus on working with adults navigating the effects of complex trauma, depression, anxiety, major life transitions, existential questions, chronic illness, neurodivergence, and non-ordinary states of consciousness. Many of the therapeutic modalities I use are those that have deeply transformed my own life. I am passionate about sharing the tools and practices that have supported my healing, in service of others’ growth and our collective wellbeing. I also offer sliding scale options for those who need them-please don’t hesitate to reach out if this would make therapy more accessible for you. YES I DO TAKE KAISER! The option might not appear unless you have received a referral. Please contact four08-402-4385 or kaisersupport at growtherapy dot com for help with this process!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that each person has an intrinsic drive to heal, and to create harmony in ourselves and our surroundings. My goal as a therapist is to help you access your inner resources to fully engage with your feelings and experiences, both the positive and the challengingly uncomfortable. Together, we use therapeutic tools to cultivate a grounded and mindful state of being that allows for compassionate self-reflection and growth. Generational trauma creates obstacles to connecting to and expressing our true selves. This disconnect can manifest as depression, anxiety, loss of sense of purpose, and lack of understanding for how to navigate our relationship to self, others, and ultimately life itself. I offer a place to meaningfully explore your truth, values, and relationships and help you cultivate your own ability to connect to yourself, recognizing how challenges have impacted you and how they can help you grow.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
