Gertrude Bonincontro, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Gertrude (Trudy) Bonincontro, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master’s in Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree from John F. Kennedy University. I hold a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and provide telehealth services to adults in Northern California. I work with adults grieving the loss of loved ones by having their grief witnessed. Grief is not something you get over, through, under, or around. It becomes a part of your life. My approach I am a certified Grief Therapist and utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Narrative concepts to assist with managing grief symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and anger. Together, we explore the stages of grief and find meaning in your loss. My focus I enjoy working with adults grieving the loss of a spouse or parent. Grieving evokes many emotions, including anxiety, depression, sadness, guilt, and anger. Together, we navigate your feelings while honoring your beloved one. My communication style My style is calm and direct. I want to witness your grief, which requires listening to your story of loss. I want you to feel heard and understood. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a Christian all my life and feel blessed to do God’s work as His servant. I have volunteered at the Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and The Council on Aging, among others, to give back. I have been in counseling for over 30 years and truly feel my work is an honor, not just a job. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is direct; I ask what clients hope to obtain from sessions. Grief cannot be fixed. Clients grieving do not need to be fixed; they need their grief witnessed, heard, and honored. If a client has a specific goal for their grief, we will work toward achieving it together.
