Getting to know Gifty Pampuru

Life is full of surprises, some pleasant and some not so pleasant. It is in these moments that a little guidance can go a long way. Let me be there for you during your challenging moments to help you navigate through them and emerge victoriously. I am a licensed professional counselor with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and five years of experience, including Residency. Though I use an eclectic approach, the interventions I most commonly use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. One size does not fit all, so understanding my clients and applying client-specific interventions is very important to me. I am also a clinical trauma specialist, trained in Internal Family Systems and EMDR. I am a firm believer that an individual's spirituality plays a significant role in their healing process. I provide Christian counseling to my clients who need it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During our initial session I make an effort to understand my clients need/goals and work with them in setting up a plan for future sessions. I respect my clients and their autonomy in making decisions and know what is in their best interests. Through the sessions the client can be assured of feeling heard, attended to and confident in their journey in accomplishing their goals. The clients will be been provided with homework in between sessions to keep them working on their challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Finally found a therapist that gets it. And comes to me with homework to help myself
Excellent discussion. She was very understanding.
Video visit
The therapist was polite and had a warm bedside manner, but the clinical depth was not there. The session focused on basic textbook coping suggestions that felt more appropriate for teens or someone new to therapy. My concerns involved complex trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and attachment patterns but the approach remained superficial and CBT-lite. This didn’t feel like trauma-informed therapy or a space equipped to handle more layered issues. This service may work well for people seeking simple coping tools or medication support, but it wasn’t aligned with what I needed clinically.
