Giovana Gomes, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Central California, providing therapy services across the state through telehealth. My approach is grounded in helping individuals explore how their current environment, past experiences, and unresolved trauma may be influencing their present lives and decisions. Together, we work to uncover your inner strengths, build resilience, and better understand how these challenges impact not only you but also your relationships with family, friends, and others around you. I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, compassion, and curiosity. My approach is holistic and trauma-informed, meaning I consider how your past experiences, environment, and relationships shape who you are today. Together, we explore patterns that may be holding you back—whether emotional, behavioral, or relational—and work toward greater awareness, healing, and self-empowerment. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can show up as your authentic self. I incorporate evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or relationship struggles, I’ll meet you where you are—with empathy, patience, and a deep respect for your lived experience. You don’t have to go through it alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with adults and young adults who are navigating complex life experiences, including trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, identity struggles, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—from themselves or from others. Some are dealing with the lasting effects of childhood or generational trauma, while others are managing the stress of balancing personal, cultural, and professional expectations. My role is to walk alongside you as you process what you’ve been through, gain insight into how it’s affecting your present, and begin building the life you want—with clarity, confidence, and compassion. Whether you're seeking healing, growth, or simply a space to be heard and understood, I’m here to support you. My communication style is warm, direct, and supportive. I believe in creating a safe, open space where you feel truly seen and heard—without judgment. During our sessions, you can expect honesty, compassion, and curiosity. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, offer insights, and gently challenge patterns that may no longer be serving you, always at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful of where you are in your journey. I aim to foster a collaborative and empowering dynamic, where your voice matters and your experiences are validated. While I bring clinical knowledge and tools to our work, I also show up as a real person—authentic, grounded, and fully present. Whether we’re exploring difficult emotions, processing trauma, or building new skills, I strive to make each session feel like a meaningful conversation, rooted in trust and mutual respect.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by a deep interest in people’s stories and a strong belief in the power of connection. I’ve always been drawn to the emotional world—curious about what shapes us, what challenges us, and what helps us heal. Over time, that curiosity turned into a calling: to be a steady, compassionate presence for others as they navigate life’s complexities. Along the way, I witnessed how transformative it can be to feel truly understood, and how meaningful it is to walk alongside someone during both their struggles and their growth. I was drawn to this work because it’s real—it invites authenticity, vulnerability, and strength, all in the same space. Through my training and clinical experience, I’ve developed a solid foundation in evidence-based practices, but I’ve also learned that some of the most powerful moments in therapy come from simply being present and attuned to another human being. Becoming a provider has allowed me to bring together both my professional skills and my natural inclination to support, empower, and connect with others. This work is a privilege. Every client brings a unique story, and I consider it an honor to be part of that journey.
