Gloria Byrd, LCSW

Gloria Byrd, LCSW

Psychotherapist
GA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience working with individuals, families, couples, and military personnel. Over the years, I have responded to domestic violence cases with the Atlanta Police Department. I believe that willingness to change, commitment, and consistency start the healing process. My approach I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Motivational Therapy, and my favorite, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, because it focuses on the client's strengths to make changes. My focus I enjoy working and sharing with people ages 18 to 80. As a senior, I offer wisdom to younger individuals and couples and share my experiences with older individuals. My communication style My initial goal is to make the client or clients feel comfortable and trust me. I use UNGAME questions that help develop rapport. My journey to mental healthcare I transferred from the Washington DC Police Department to DC Adult Probation. At that time, they were the only probation department using therapy as well as monitoring. I realized I needed more training, so I applied to the first school of social work in the country, Bryn Mawr College, where I earned my Master's in Social Work. My goals for you I focus on and listen to the information shared by the client during the first session and help them develop a goal that is measurable within the scope of life. My first session with you The first session is used to introduce myself, establish a comfortable setting and relationship, and identify concerns.
