“I’m making many insights about my life in these sessions. I’ve been struggling with my relationship and my career and feeling anxious and depressed. The therapy has been really effective and she’s very skilled at what she does. I didn’t realize how much of what’s happening in my life now stems back to my childhood. She’s helping me find compassion for myself to move forwards. If you’re looking for someone to just vent with she’s there for it, but she’ll really help you do more than that. ”

Getting to know Grace Holden

I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist helping adults seeking relief from anxiety, depression and complex trauma. I incorporate Internal Family Systems with somatic methods to explore underlying issues that may be contributing to the challenges you're facing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Before becoming a therapist, I traveled as a professional dancer. While touring, I integrated mental, emotional and physical techniques to stay grounded while managing chronic illness amidst constant change. It made me want to study as a therapist; one who continues to practice as an artist in dance, music and design. I've experienced firsthand the power of making art to get through difficult life transitions, ruptures in relationships, physical pain, personal trauma and grief. I've now worked as a therapist in several settings with people across many walks of life. Within these settings, I've supported clients in discovering their innate potential for growth and creativity as a resource for ongoing healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It's my pleasure to share the creative wellness techniques I've accrued throughout my life, and to combine them with evidence-based therapies that I integrate into my practice. I use a blend of methods from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Dance/movement Therapy to support connection between body and mind. Strengthening this connection can be helpful for individuals who are healing from trauma, relationship challenges, difficult life transitions, or overwhelming symptoms. Sessions primarily involve talk-based methods, while movement and art-making are available based off your comfort and interest. I work with you to find the best methods that align with your goals.

Grace is helping me to understand the underlying issues contributing to my anxiety. I feel we’re really getting to the root of things. I’m looking forward to continuing our sessions.
Grace is one of the most empathetic and intuitive people I know. Being in her presence immediately makes me feel calm and gives me inspiration to step into my fullest self.
Not only was Grace quick to see me, she was incredibly patient and understanding and able to hear what is going on in my life without any judgement. I feel supported and understood when we have a session. Her experience and insight has helped me immensely.
Very helpful therapist. Grace helped me feel comfortable in our sessions and I was able to work through issues. Her emphasis on learning more about how my body was dealing with stress helped me understand my issues on a deeper level.
Very thankful to have found Grace; my search for a therapist was getting very frustrating until a friend of a friend recommended her. Her warmth and kindness pairs well with the way she has challenged me in our sessions, and for the first time I really feel like i’m confronting deeper issues I have been struggling with for a while. Scheduling has always been easy, and she takes cigna which helps a lot.
