Getting to know Hajrah Javed

Hi, I'm Hajrah — a licensed therapist in Texas specializing in breakup recovery, dating app burnout, relationship patterns, and structured pre-marital counseling for women and young adults.Wait — before you send that "I'm fine" text, let's talk about it.You just went through a breakup and can't stop checking their Instagram. Or you're stuck in the same situationship wondering how you got here again. Or you're exhausted from dating apps — the ghosting, the matches who vanish mid-conversation, the "wyd" text at 11pm from someone who won't ask you a real question, the app you deleted and redownloaded three times this month. Or maybe you've found the one and want to build a marriage that actually lasts, not just hope it works out. This is that space — all of it.The 2am spiral. The screenshot you want to send. The "I'm over it" you're saying out loud but definitely don't mean. I work with women and young adults navigating the messy, human experience of relationships — falling into them, falling out of them, trying to find them in the first place, and figuring out who you are in between.I won't hand you affirmations and send you back to the apps unchanged. We get into the real stuff — your attachment style, the patterns you keep repeating, and what you actually need to find or build something real.Growing up South Asian and Muslim, I know firsthand what it's like to navigate dating, love, and marriage while managing family expectations and cultural pressure. You don't have to shrink any of that here.I see clients virtually across Texas, based out of Dallas/Plano. In-person sessions coming soon.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I will never get tired of hearing about your ex. Or your matches. Or the person you're trying to decide if you should marry. Seriously — bring the full timeline. The good phase, the almost-worked-out phase, the "why did I text back" phase, the app you've been on for three years and hate but can't delete, the "should I really do this" phase. I won't check the clock or change the subject. What most people call "obsessing" is usually just grief, or exhaustion, or fear, or love that hasn't had anywhere honest to go yet. We give it somewhere to go. Here's what therapy with me actually looks like: - I'm not a silent nodder. I'm in the conversation with you — real questions, honest perspective, and yes, lovingly calling you out when you're letting someone treat you like an option, ghosting yourself before someone else can, or avoiding a conversation you and your partner actually need to have. - I won't just tell you to delete the apps or their number, or tell you "you'll just know" about marriage. We figure out what's underneath the exhaustion or the hesitation first — that's where the real work starts. - I normalize everything. The Instagram-checking. The hope after one nice text. The rage-delete-and-redownload cycle. The anxious spiral before a hard conversation. You're not crazy — you're someone trying to get this right, and that's complicated. We build real skills: spotting a mismatch in weeks instead of months, communicating without over-explaining or shutting down, setting boundaries without guilt, trusting yourself again after it's been burned, and talking through the hard stuff before marriage instead of after. You're in the right place whether you're freshly heartbroken, burnt out on dating apps, stuck in on-again-off-again cycles, or preparing for engagement or marriage.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First session — we start wherever you are. If the breakup was last week, we start there. If you've been on dating apps for years and can't remember why you started, we start there. If you're recently engaged and figuring out what to even talk about before the wedding, we start there too. No judgment on the timeline, no polished version required. This session is about understanding your story and what feeling ready — or feeling better — actually looks like for you. Sessions 2–4 — identifying the patterns, or building the foundation. For breakup, dating, and relationship-pattern work: we explore your attachment style (anxious, avoidant, or somewhere in between), the dynamics or the type of person that feel magnetic even when they're not healthy, and the deeper beliefs driving your choices. For pre-marital work: we build the foundation — communication styles, conflict patterns, family and cultural expectations, and emotional intimacy — going deeper than a compatibility checklist. Ongoing work — where real change happens. What you'll walk away with: - Clarity on what happened, or what you need — and why you don't have to keep replaying or guessing at it - A real understanding of your attachment style and how it shows up in dating apps, relationships, and marriage - The ability to spot a mismatch in weeks instead of months - Tools to communicate without shutting down, over-explaining, or spiraling - Confidence to date, marry, or be alone — without the panic - Skills for setting boundaries, recognizing red flags early, and trusting yourself again You don't have to keep processing this in your group chat at midnight. There's a whole hour every week that belongs to this, and to you
