Psychotherapist
IN
I'm Hannah "Grae" Krodel, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Board Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC) providing online therapy to adults across Indiana. I earned my MA in Mental Health Counseling, Art Therapy Track, from the University of Indianapolis. I believe healing doesn't always start with words. Through art therapy, clients can explore emotions, process difficult experiences, and discover new insights using color, image, and creative expression alongside traditional counseling. No art experience is needed; the focus is always on the process, not the final product. I work with clients navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, burnout, life transitions, and feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. My approach is collaborative, affirming, and client-led. I aim to create a safe, inclusive space where you can show up as you are and move at a pace that feels right for you. As a mixed-media artist, I've experienced firsthand how creating can help us make sense of our inner world. I bring that same curiosity and care into every session, offering both structure and flexibility so therapy fits your needs and goals. Sessions are held through secure, HIPAA-compliant video, so you can attend from the comfort and privacy of your own home. I'm in-network with many major insurance plans and EAPs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to be "artistic" to do art therapy. There's no right or wrong way to create, and nothing you make will be judged. Stick figures, scribbles, and colors on a page can say a lot. What matters is the process and what it helps you notice about yourself. Sessions are online, so it helps to have a quiet, private space where you can talk freely, plus a few basic supplies like paper, pens, markers, or whatever you have on hand. I'll let you know if anything else might be useful, and you're always welcome to use materials you already enjoy. You don't have to know exactly what to say or where to start. It's okay to come in feeling unsure, stuck, or overwhelmed; that's often where creative work is most helpful. You set the pace, and you're always in control of what you share. I welcome feedback. If something isn't working for you, or you'd like to try a different approach, just tell me. Therapy is a partnership, and I want it to feel supportive and meaningful for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start with a free-flowing first session where we talk about what brings you in, what you're hoping will change, and any past experiences with therapy. I'll also explain how art therapy works and answer any questions, so you can decide whether it feels like a good fit. No art experience is needed. From there, we'll set goals together and I'll tailor each session to you. A typical session begins with a check-in, then moves into a creative activity, such as drawing, painting, collage, or mixed media, using simple materials you likely already have at home. Afterward, we reflect on the process and what came up, connecting it to your feelings, experiences, and goals. Some sessions lean more toward conversation and others more toward creating; we'll find the balance that works for you. I see clients individually through secure online video, and we'll check in regularly on how therapy is going and adjust as your needs change. My approach is collaborative and client-led: you set the pace, and I offer structure, support, and creative tools to help you explore, process, and grow.
