Hi there, I'm Heather! I am Heather Keyes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with people across the lifespan. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Radford University. I support individuals, youth, and families in growing resiliency skills and overcoming life challenges. With counseling, anyone can explore how they became who they are today, what they can change, and how to become the person they want to be. My approach I use a collaboration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I encourage patients to leave each visit with plans and goals to work on before the next visit. My focus My specialties include stress management, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bipolar disorder, ADD/ADHD, anger management, PTSD, LGBTQIA+, men's and women's issues, family issues, trauma, grief, and loss. My communication style I create a calm, inviting environment where individuals feel safe and build trust. I join with my patients to find solutions they are motivated to try. I aim for each person to leave with a plan to immediately address their primary concerns. My journey to mental healthcare I didn't initially know social work was my path! Conversations with a student and professor opened me to this profession. My father was a counselor, so helping people has always been part of my life. I know healing is possible because I have achieved it myself and seen it in many others. I am motivated by supporting people through difficult journeys to achieve their best selves. I learn from my patients daily and feel honored to be part of their healing. My goals for you I explore how a person learns best and work with them to set realistic, obtainable goals.
