Hi there, I'm Heather! It is my honor and joy to support and witness people creating their inner strength. As a seasoned counselor with a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Colorado, I have had the opportunity to assist clients in self-discovery and transforming blocks to a happy and fulfilling life. I draw from a toolkit of CBT, Humanistic, Insight-Oriented, and Spiritual approaches to support clients in achieving desired changes. My specialties include anxiety, depression, substance abuse, chronic illness, and non-medical pain management. My approach My approach is to build a strong relationship with clients by listening, affirming, and sharing helpful modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neurolinguistic Programming, providing emotional support, and building on strengths. My focus Clients will benefit most when they are internally motivated, open to suggestions, and follow up between sessions. My communication style Listening is the most important communication skill. I use my intuition and follow up with questions to help clients understand themselves and create empowering habits. My journey to therapy Becoming a counselor was actually suggested by several of my friends, as they thought it would be a good fit for my personality. The recommendations have proved to be great advice. My goals for you The first goal is usually the reduction of troublesome symptoms, followed by supporting clients in improving the overall quality of their lives. My first session with you During the first session, I complete the required social history and make sure the clients have a tool of some kind before the session ends.
